Meet our LW Babe of the Week, Shene Barkley

Full name: Shene Barkley

Nickname: Neytjie

Age: 24 years young

Hometown: Currently living in Alberton Gauteng

Day job: Teacher, Au pair and student because, well independence

Likes: Wine, gangster rap, sushi, squats and books. Did I say Carbs.

Dislikes: Small talk, the treadmill and an alarm clock. I genuinely cannot deal with alarms, I dislike them so much I actually set about 4.

Special talents: Smart should count as one. I can run pretty fast if needed as I used to be a sprinter. Public speaker if i can say so myself and I read body language pretty well

Our South African Babes feature with Shene Barkley

Give us the ins and outs of Shene Barkley?
An Afrikaans lady who grew up in a house with strict rules, I am grateful for this though. I am a very old soul that is irritatingly busy for some people. I cannot sit still or keep quiet for long durations of time. I laugh from my stomach all the time, so much so that I sometimes laugh so hard tears stream down my cheeks. I am an only child and no I’m not spoilt I have worked very hard for everything I have and achieved. Oh, how I love a challenge. Im not a natural blonde and yes I take way too many selfies. Does not like rules and instructions, definitely does not follow them. Has free will that is a very strong will. Tell me to do something and I’ll do the opposite. I speak fluent sarcasm. When I love I love hard. My favourite word is resilient. Very stubborn but  I wear my heart on my sleeve. Very territorial with the people in my life. No, I don’t like sharing. ‘’only child syndrome”. I enjoy being in pyjamas, eating cheat meals often. I cannot play “poppie” everyday. I have no time for stupidity and with that comes little patience. The fuse in this one is very short. I love unplanned evenings and spontaneous trips. The only time I am unsure of myself is when I’m ordering off a menu at a restaurant. I like long romantic walks on the beach. I am such a hopeless Romantic.

What have been your highlights of 2017 so far, and what are you still looking forward to?
Not going to lie, its been rough, however my growth game… I am looking forward to getting my second degree the end of this year. Six years of studying takes its toll on you.

Our SA Babes feature with Shene Barkley

Your pros and cons of studying in Potch?
Pros: The vibe amongst the students. Everything was always good in potch. Gummy bear juice. The “sokkies” in Impala,. Everything is cheaper in Potch. Zero responsibilities. all you have to do is pass. Pappa en mamma paid.
Cons: Very little sleep. Huge amounts of heartbreaks. Last minute cramming sessions. The noise. People never wore shoes. Many men thought they were farmers with daddies Land Cruiser. The mall is very limited. Parking is a problem. Laundry.

Potch is known for hosting some crazy parties. Which has been your craziest?
Honestly, it is very difficult to say. Potch nights are always big and each party brings something new the next day to laugh about. There’s this one weekend in potch that lasts two days called Jool and to say the least it was “joolig”. Waking up in your flat with your doors wide open and your mattress in the TV room is pretty standard. Followed by missing the next two days of University classes was the best decision you could’ve made for everyone around you.

What are your top 5 favorite travel destinations?
Mauritius – The white beaches clear oceans and full board cocktails.
Dubai – The night life and public transport.
Cape town – Nothing better than sitting with an oversized hat with Table mountain behind you and the ocean in front of you. A spice route never killed nobody. Wine pairing, snacks, selfies, Merlot.
A place called “Hartenbos” in the Cape – It’s an Afrikaans thing.
A little gem called Clarens – Theres something about the “arty-farty” town in the mountains with the sweetest Cafés where the reception is minimal and the wooden fires are constantly burning.

Our South African Girls feature with Shene Barkley

Which day of the week is your favorite?
Friday. Nothing like a Friday feeling, knowing that I don’t have to set an alarm for tomorrow. My weekends start early at exactly 2:15 to say the least, so much free time for activities. Nothing like shaking off responsibilities for another 48hours.

If you could be anything for one day, what/who would you be and what would you get up to?
I would like to be the billionaire version of myself, sailing on a  private yacht in Greece, sipping on Moët in a great bikini, wearing no makeup, beach hair, with no cellphone reception, eating fresh seafood – nothing like a good catch of the day (living off the land).

What male attributes do you find yourself attracted to?
Nothing like a man that not only looks good and smells good but can actually have an intellectual conversation. There comes a time when you don’t want to speak about protein shakes and biceps. Yes, I can see you gym but tell me, can you think? On a contradictory note, nothing like a good quad to calve ratio and a degree.

Our SA Girls feature with Shene Barkley

What type of guy do you see yourself tying the knot with?
A man with a vision for the future. A man whom is not static but constantly thrives to be better. A man that’s hardworking and has no problem getting his hands dirty. I need someone who, as they say, is home and an adventure all at once. Someone who I can laugh with forever but I take seriously. Cliché I know but that’s what I want. A man that displays the type of respect towards me that he gives his mother. Just to add some spice, a bad boy with a good heart. On a simpler note, someone who can offer me more than their Instagram account [laughs].

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
I definitely see myself happily married, key here is being happy. Hopefully with a little bambino here or on their way. I’m a real mamma. Growing up with my parents still together, that is something that I’ve always wanted. Being financially stable has never made anyone unhappy either. I’d like to have stamps in my passport like collectables.

Tell us something that most people don’t know about you?
I am petrified of the dark. I do not walk into a house that has no lights. Even when I go to bed at night I switch on all the lights along my route so that I do not walk in the dark. I am a level 100 insomniac. I am happy when I get at least 4 hours of sleep, thank gosh my days are longer so that I get more time to get everything done. I don’t like being alone at all. Theres so many people, why must I be in isolation?

What’s the next thing on your bucket list that you’re hoping to tick off?
Travelling with my best friend to Bali in December.

Shene Barkley features as this week's LW Babe

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you mention:

Blondes? Maintenance, dry shampoo, wild.

Brunettes? Make the best friends and work in corporate, jokes.

Hump day? Gluteal flexion.

Turn ons? Tattoos, great cologne.

Lingerie? All black, La Senza.

Adrenaline? Fast cars, heights, exciting relationships [laughs].

The free spirited Nina Hannaway graces our pages as this week’s LW Babe of the Week. A naturalist who feels more comfortable with her kit off than on, and we obviously have no problem with that! Meet her here.
Proudly brought to you by AquaVita Water

Meet our LW Babe of the Week, Nina Hannaway

Full name: Nina Hannaway

Name: Ninja

Age: 27

Hometown: Marina Beach, KZN

Day job: Pilates instructor, professional model and artist.

Likes: Creating art, dancing ballet, surfing, rock climbing and yoga.

Dislikes: Mean girls

Special talents: Art, show jumping on my horse and ballet.

Our South African Babes feature with Nina Hannaway

What are some of your favorite things to do?
Painting has got to be at the top of my list. Photographic modeling. Surfing, I am a mermaid at heart, and traveling to new exotic places.

How long have you been in the modeling game and what do you enjoy most about it?
I started modeling at the age of 2. What I enjoy the most about modeling is being able to tell a story with a strong message through a single image. An image that makes the viewer take a step back and think on a deeper level.

What have been some of your most memorable shoots?
Wow that is a hard one, as I have so many shoots that have impacted my heart and soul. I loved shooting the Black Swan series based on depression with the lovely photographer and friend, Lucia.
I adore working with the talented artist, Marke Meyer because I get to make use of my flexibility and strength to create shapes with my body, which he later uses as reference for his bronze sculptures.
But, like I said I could honestly wright pages worth on the memorable shoots I have done with Photographers who have become close friends.

Our SA Babes feature with Nina Hannaway

You have no problem taking your kit off for the camera. What goes through your mind when you’re standing naked in front of the camera?
Well firstly you need to understand that I am a naturalist, so being naked is something that I am extremely comfortable with. To be honest I feel more comfortable out of my clothes. I personally see clothing as a mask we as humans hide behind, once you remove that mask you have no choice but to truly be yourself.

Sensual gratification. What is it in your opinion?
Sensual gratification to me happens when my partner has a connection with my mind and soul. It is something beautiful and organic.

Do you ever get shy?
Nope Never.

Our South African Girls feature with Nina Hannaway

Your most embarrassing moment?
I have far too many to list [laughs].

What was your take on the McGregor vs Mayweather fight?
Well, I must state that I am a huge Mayweather fan and of course knew that the undefeated world champ would remain just that. But I do have to admit that I have a massive amount of respect for McGregor who came from an MMA background and actually had the guts to challenge a legend. He proved himself a worthy contestant. I would love to see a rematch in a years time, I think we all would!

If you ever found yourself in a boxing ring, who would your opponent be?
Hmm tough one as I am a lover, not a fighter. But if I really had to choose someone it would have to be Miley Cyrus. I don’t think it needs any more explanation.

Our SA Girls feature with Nina Hannaway

What does a day in the life of Nina consist of?
Well you would need a copious amount of energy to survive it. 5am yoga on the beach followed by beach sprints for cardio. Then 4-5 hours of teaching Pilates classes at my Pilates Studio. A quick lunch break followed by a surf or if it’s flat, some free diving to hopefully catch some crayfish for dinner. I spend golden hour running on the beach with my 5 dogs. In the evenings I paint. That is when I am not traveling for shoots which normally start with 4am hair and make-up and then followed by 4-8 hours of shooting for the day.

Now that the summer months are upon us, what are you looking forward to most?
I love summer! I get to live in my bikini and spend as much time as I can on my secret little beach with my 5 dogs. I am normally the only human on the beach so I get to run around naked and free just the way I like it.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Now that is a hard question for me to answer. I am a free spirited person and love the thrill of not planning too far ahead. It allows me to follow my heart and travel, which means I get to indulge into the many beautiful cultures around the world. I might be in Bali surfing it up or I might be in India practicing yoga with the gurus. Check in with me in 5 years time again.

Fit and toned, just the way we like it. Natasha Koekemoer rocks our LW Babe of the Week feature – photoset and interview below.
Proudly brought to you by AquaVita Water.

Meet our LW Babe of the Week Natasha Koekemoer

Full name: Natasha Koekemoer

Nickname: Tash

Age: 25

Hometown: Durban

Day job: Student Record Coordinator

Likes: Good food, good company and good coffee

Dislikes: Selfish people

Special talents: Fitness

Our South African Babes feature with Natasha Koekemoer

How would you best explain your personality to our readers?
I’m an outgoing, fun-loving person, a go-getter and I’m always up for a challenge.

What weekends are made for?
For me my weekends consist of early morning gym sessions, time spent on the beach and evenings spent with family and friends.

What are your morning rituals?
When I’m prepping for contests it consists of fasted cardio at 5am in the morning, and when I’m not prepping for shows I normally hit the snooze button. My workday starts at 7am so I am usually up early having breakfast and ensuring my meals are packed for the long day ahead.

Our SA Babes feature with Natasha Koekemoer

What’s your secret to keeping your body in such good shape?
Balance and consistency. It’s all about following a proper diet plan that suits your needs and goals, but still allowing yourself to enjoy some good food now and then. That together with working out 6-7 days a week is what keeps me in shape! I always believe that you should never stop improving yourself!

What are your pet peeves when it comes to working out?
When people unleash all sweaty hell on a machine and don’t clean up afterwards.

Are girls just as bad as guys when it comes to under the covers talk?
Yes, I actually think girls are worse than guys. We really lay it all out there after a few glasses of wine.

Our South African Girls feature with Natasha Koekemoer

What do girls often talk about that guys don’t realize?
We always talk about them, good and bad details, we really do go into detail.

You walk into a nightclub, which guy grabs your attention?
I hardly ever go out to nightclubs, but a guy who is well built with a good haircut draws my attention, because that’s an indication that he takes care of himself.

What has been one of the weirdest dates you’ve ever been on?
Let me be 100% honest here, I haven’t been on a date in 6 years, but I remember this one time where I went on a blind date and the guy was bald. I don’t do bald guys [laughs].

Our SA Girls feature with Natasha Koekemoer

How did you enjoy your shoot with Lyle Simes for this feature and which scene is your favorite?
It was an absolute blast shooting with Lyle, I felt extremely comfortable in front of the camera. My favorite scene is definitely in the underground parking lot, and he just nailed the shots!

What drives you?
Being the best version of me, motivating others to peruse their dreams and goals, especially when it comes to fitness and lifestyle changes. I want to inspire others to make healthy changes to their lifestyle in order to bring out the best in them.

If you could experience any one thing for just 10 minutes, what would it be?
I would love to experience the thrill of sky diving.

Natasha Koekemoer features as this week's LW Babe

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when we mention:

Kitch? Glitter.

Popular? Doughnuts.

Sexy? Francois Hougaard.

Oysters? Yuck.

Balling? Money.

Summertime? Beach.

Dominating the alternative scene with a fierce new relaunch, Frame Girls are back and better than ever!

Dominating the alternative scene with a fierce new relaunch, Frame Girls are back and better than ever.

For those who aren’t familiar with them, Frame Girls is an alternative modeling agency, who are put together by an elite team of creatives and models. With creative director, Estaschia Cossadianos, and managing director Marci de Beer leading a team with Shane Mc Mahon from Shyne // Photo, and Simone Ackerman from WabiSabi Clothing, you can believe they have relaunched a brand that is a force to be reckoned with.

Frame Girls representing the alternative side of South African Babes

“We really want to shatter the expectations that people have about modeling. No, you don’t need to be tall and skinny, eat celery and have your face plastered with make all day everyday – I mean you can if you want, but it isn’t what makes you ideal for our brand –“says Estaschia

Vibrant coloured hair, awesome tattoos, piercings and a unique presence is all you need. All shapes and sizes are welcome, as they are body positive and believe in being healthy, staying true to who you are and what makes you different. If you think you would like to be part of their agency, don’t hesitate to send them a message, they want you to bring your game face and show them why you will help them rule the world. You will also be able to see their work in Glamour Magazine, which was their first published editorial piece since taking over.

Frame Girls representing the alternative side of SA Babes

“We create competitive portfolios for all our models, so we stand out from the rest, not only because our models look edgier, but because we love creating photoshoots that challenge our models to excel. We are teamed up with amazing people, with explosive minds that blow me out of the water daily. Shane (from Shyne // Photo) is freakishly talented with her photography and editing, and the concepts that she weaves with Simone Ackerman (from Wabisabi) is so unique. We are focused on originality more than anything…”

Their Cape Town division is under a complete make over by the creative team, and we are beyond excited to see what they get up to down there. With models like – Christine Vanink, Marleen Oi, Cindy Pretorius, Dasha Destrukt and Jessa Black, no wonder their slogan is “We are what most are not”.

LW Babe Melissa Leith

Melissa Leith! What can we say, except that we’re completely taken back by her beauty and outlook on life. Next level sex appeal that tips the scales, and we are excited to introduce her to you as our LW Babe of the Week.
Proudly brought to you by AquaVita Water.

Meet our LW Babe of the Week, Melissa Leith

Full name: Melissa Leith

Nickname: Lissa

Age: 29

Hometown: Durban SA (Bluff)

Day job: Procurement Manger by day, super mom by night.

Likes: Yoga, beach, chocolate, travel, adventure, bubble baths and wine.

Dislikes: Creepy crawlies, messy spaces and horror movies

Special talents: Artistry and good designing ethics.

Our South African Babes feature with Melissa Leith

Who is Melissa Leith?
I was born and raised in Durban and I am the eldest of four siblings. I am very much a down to earth mommy with three beautiful daughters. I am also a wife, full time working mom, model and socialite. I am energetic, creative and ambitious. I love to laugh and joke around.
I have always had a passion for being behind the camera, and modelling is my muse. I love working with new people on set and making magic happen. To see the outcome after every shoot makes what I do so worth it (sometimes I can’t believe it’s me in the photo). Being a mom of girls, you need to be on the ball all the time and I raise my daughters to lead by example. Make a difference and inspire others.

If we could spend a day in your shoes, what would we experience?
My days are extremely busy with three children, balancing Motherhood and working full time can be a blessing and a challenge. I start my day with a 30 minute cardio workout and a cup of coffee, make breakfast, pack lunches, schoolbags, etc., and get the kiddies ready for school. Then get myself ready. Drop all the kids at school and begin my day at work. Afternoons is fetching children from school, attending sports games and matches, doing homework, cleaning, bathing and making dinner. While I make dinner I’ll have a glass of wine to unwind. I also squeeze in a good hour of Yoga everyday, it’s so worth it. You need to have a balance. Then I’ll organise and pack for the next day. Then it’s time for a long bubble bath.

Our SA Babes feature with Melissa Leith

If you could spend a day in anyone else’s shoes, who would it be?
I’d have to say Alessandra Ambrosio, she is just amazing. She has a simple, balanced life. She’s a single mom and rocking it. Just to walk down the runway at a Victoria’s Secret fashion show wearing one of their gorgeous showstoppers. All that sexy lingerie, it doesn’t get better than that.

What are your most important things in life?
My Girls, my Husband and my family. Everything else comes after. Growing up in a big family and being the eldest taught me so many core values that I use with my family to this day. Daily structures and routines is a stable foundation for a happy family.

What is your definition of good looking?
Cliché but defiantly tall, handsome, sexy smile and captivating eyes.

Have you ever used your good looks to get yourself out of trouble?
Yes I have, more than once. It has in many cases also gotten me into a lot of trouble.

Our South African Girls feature with Melissa Leith

Now that summer is here, what are you looking forward to most?
Beach, pool, bikinis and sun kissed skin. Spending my weekends on the beach.

What are your pros and cons of being a Durban girl?
Pro – Beach day every day.
Con –   I love durbs so there are no cons.

Tell us something that most people don’t know about you?
I love karaoke. I also sing in the shower loudly every chance I get, no matter who is listening.

Our SA Girls feature with Melissa Leith

Which part of your body is your favourite, and which part gets the most attention from guys?
Definitely my eyes. They are the window to the soul. I think most guys are attracted to my smile… could also be my bum.

When it comes to guys, what to you take not of first?
Straight away, his eyes and his smile. I can’t resist a well built body either.

Hit us with some inspiration for the day?
There is nothing more rare and beautiful than a woman being unapologetically herself, comfortable in her perfect imperfections. That is the true essence of beauty. Life is short, smile while you still have teeth.

Melissa Leith features as this week's LW Babe

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when we mention:

Date night? Lots of candles and rose petals.

Extreme? Sky diving.

Adventure? Base Jumping.

After hours? Yoga.

Pleasures? Cuddling.

Sensual? Neck massage.

I’ve always wanted to be able to feel more comfortable in a bikini. So I set a goal and finally achieved it. They have definitely changed my life and I feel like I’ve learned what a waste of time underwear really is.

Proudly brought to you by AquaVita Water.

Meet our LW Babe of the Week, Jacqui Steinmann

Full name: Jacqui Steinmann

Nickname: Jax

Hometown: Johannesburg

Day job: Student (Personal Training, Nutrition and Life Coaching), self employed pastry chef.

Likes: Traveling, working out, being with my family and dogs, burgers, trying out different sports and meeting new people.

Dislikes: Being hungry, being in a lift packed with people, walking behind people who walk slowly and don’t move out the way, and gyms that play terrible music

Special talents: Ability to wriggle my ears without touching them, cooking and baking, doing bite work with my Rottweilers and lots of sports

Our South African Babes feature with Jacqui Steinmann

Give us some insight into who Jacqui Steinmann is?
I am a mom to a beautiful 17 month old daughter and wife to an amazing man. I am a self proclaimed gym/ sport bunny. I have a zest for life and all the possibilities it offers. I am fiercely loyal to my friends and family. I did my honors in Psychology, studied to be a chef, ran a successful cafe and catering business and now I am studying to be a Personal Trainer, Nutritionist and Life Coach. I am hoping to combine all my skills into a strong business platform.

What are some of your favorite things to do?
I love being with my family and dogs. I love food and trying out different cuisines and restaurants. Also love going to dance parties, love trance, techno and deep house. Love traveling and exploring different destinations.

If you could be a fly on the wall during any historic situation, which would it be and why?
Shew to many to mention, but one would be to definitely be around the times of when the Pyramids were created, to believe or not believe in any conspiracy theories about them.

Our SA Babes feature with Jacqui Steinmann

What have been some of your highlights of 2017?
Competing at the WBFF Worlds in London, and obtaining a WBFF PRO card to compete on an International and Professional level.

Tell us about your journey into the fitness industry and what you’d like to achieve?
I have always been a physically fit, healthy and sporty person. I competed very competitively in sports when I was younger and did really well. When you have a family, having “time” becomes increasingly challenging. So I have had to learn how to maximize time to achieve what one wants to achieve in a day. I would like have this effect on people, expressing that if you train and eat smartly, by using the time you have, you too can find balance. I want to complete my studies as an advanced Personal Trainer, Nutritionist and Life Coach and help people change their lives for the better.

What has the fitness lifestyle done for your physically and mentally?
Mentally the fitness lifestyle has given my life clarity and meaning. I always have a new goal or something to work towards. It also means being a better role model to the people that are in my life, and that I want to surround myself with people that have similar values making life so much more fulfilling. Physically, I am the strongest and fittest version of myself that I have ever been, always have energy and look forward to every new day because feeling good makes you more confident to deal with life in general.

Our South African Girls feature with Jacqui Steinmann

Supplements are a big part of training. Which do you feel is the most important for you
I am a Scientific Sports Nutrition Influencer and the most life changing supplement is a product called Cytoguard. It is probably the most important product one should have when training for anything. There are so many benefits to mention, a few being that it protects the breakdown of muscle while training and gives a great pump, it also takes advantage of the most anti catabolic hormone, Insulin. It also tastes great.

What goes through your mind when you are in front of the camera?
Make love not war [laughs]

Have you ever used your good looks to get yourself out of trouble?
I have always seen myself as the girl next door and equal to any one else but, like anyone else, have definitely tried my tactics to get a few free drinks and passes into clubs.

Jacqui Steinmann features as this week's LW Babe

Advise for guys – the do’s and don’t when flirting with women?
Do be genuine about your compliments. Don’t be scared to be yourself.

Advise for girls – the do’s and don’t when flirting with guys?
Do make eye contact. Don’t be desperate.

What’s your passion?
Number one: To have a happy and healthy family.
Number two: Everything related to health and fitness.

What are your words to live by?
Be kind, work hard, stay humble, smile often, stay loyal, be honest, travel when possible, never stop learning, love always.

Can’t live without? My family.

She’s fun and vibey, loves the beach and PlayStation games. She’s got our attention and we’re pretty sure she’ll have yours too! Get to know the super fine Amber Elizabeth as our LW Babe of the Week in her feature below.

Meet our LW Babe of the Week, Amber Elizabeth

Full name: Amber Elizabeth Konahos

Nickname: Ambs, Ambi or Ambi Bambi

Age: 23 years young

Hometown: Ballito, but born in the 011

Day job: Model/ Makeup Artist/ Monster Energy Girl

Likes: Happy vibes, good people, good food, dancing, laughing, music, animals and being out in the ocean on my surfboard. Even if I’m not catching any waves, it’s my favourite place to be in the world. Other than Thailand of course, that’s my retirement destination. Kids, I love children. Disney movies, still and always be The Little Mermaids number one fan, I’m obsessed with anything to do with mermaids. Good PlayStation sessions, COD (if you don’t know what that stands for we can’t be friends), Mortal Kombat… bring it, I’ll kick your ass! 420? Is that allowed on here? [laughs].

Dislikes: People that can’t drive, and I don’t mean haven’t got their license, I mean people that pull Austin Powers famous 1,000,000 point turns or drive like snails. It drives me insane and I get road rage, it is so unnecessary to drive at 40km an hour. Please, just rather walk or get a bicycle. People that are rude to waiters/ staff members, it shows a lot about their characters. Bad personal hygiene… like, dude maybe go buy some roll-on, have a little shave, wash your hair, cut your nails. People that don’t like animals, I’ve always been weary of those. A dirty house. Christmas carols, I’d rather die. I’m not religious, (gonna lose points for that one) I actually think it’s rather unfair to anyone who is not Christian to have to listen to those. It’s selfish and even worse that they’re all so shitty to listen to.

Special talents: I don’t have any of those. I think, the stuff I can do is weird. Can being a weirdo be a special talent?  I’m talking, being able to Lick my nose, wiggle my ears, stick my shoulder blades out so they look like creepy wings. Pull the ugliest faces you’ve ever seen in your entire life… that sorta stuff? No? Okay…I’ll just stop.

Our South African Babes feature with Amber Elizabeth

How would you best introduce yourself to our readers?
If you haven’t already figured out, I’m very laid back. I don’t take anything (other than the import stuff like work) too seriously, I’m always up for a good laugh, I like being silly. I don’t think I’ll ever grow up, I’ll always be young at heart, cue 18 till I die [laughs]. I’m very easy going, a bit of a tomboy. I fit in with the dudes more than the girls. I don’t do the girly cackling. it hurts my ears. As much as the girly, model look I have going on seems like I’m a lot of work, I’m really not. I’m happy to ride to Maccie Dees with you in my tracksuit to get takeaways one night and be dressed to the nines the next for a fancy dinner. I’ll do both, any time. I’m a happy go lucky chick, bringing good vibes and food. I love to cook. When I cook at home I make enough to feed about 8 people. Thats the Greek in me, wanting to just feed everyone. Other than that, I’m really simple. Not fussy. Never judge anyone, ever. I’m a bit of a nutcase and a little but psycho but my boyfriend still stays so nothing too bad I guess.

What do you like to get up to on the weekends?
Beach! Sun! Bikini! Surf! I don’t get to go as often as I like, but that’s my favourite thing to do. Chilling out and catching some rays.

How true is the saying “blondes have more fun”?
[Laughs] I guess it depends on your definition of “fun”.

Our SA Babes feature with Amber Elizabeth

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
I see myself with the opportunity to retire. Possibly married. Yes I’m a homely kinda girl. Successful modeling career. On the beach all the time. A child (hopefully a boy, I do not want girls). I want 3 so, 28 isn’t a bad time to start. Living life to the max and just having a good time, appreciating everything and everyone in my life. Oh, and playing endless amounts of playstation on my home cinema. They better come up with something good by then.

What has been one of the hardest life challenges you’ve had to face?
I’ve had many of those. Wouldn’t even know where to start!

What advice would you give to your 16 year old self?
To enjoy not having responsibilities for as long as possible.

Our South African Girls feature with Amber Elizabeth

What’s is the experience of being a Monster Energy Girl like?
I must say, out of all the work I’ve ever done, being a Monster Girl is such an amazing job to have. Everyone on the team is awesome, fun, easy to work with and very laid back. No dramas, no cattiness with the girls. Everyone’s very sweet and all the events are always so much fun!

What have been some of your favorite events you have attended for Monster Energy?
I don’t have a favourite, to be perfectly honest. As I said, I always have a great time. I am, however sure that Gymkhana GRiD this weekend shall be my favourite, I can’t wait!

If you were granted three wishes, what would you wish for?
That no one on earth was poor. That would solve a lot of problems. Provided the people promised to use it for the right things, I’d wish everyone was rich.
I’d wish to be a mermaid. A real life one.
Don’t think I have a 3rd, yet.

Our SA Girls feature with Amber Elizabeth

Your suggestions on TV series’ to binge watch?
I don’t watch too many series, I do enjoy Stranger Things on Netflix, any of the American Horror Stories. I like weird shows. I love scary movies. I’m not a lovey dovey movie fan. I’ll watch them if I must but a skop, skiet en donner will always take first place. Love marvel movies as well. Comics are my best.

What is one of the most spontaneous things you’ve ever done?
Can’t say on here… thats definitely not allowed.

With the festive season around the corner, what are you looking forward to most?
Eating! Everything! Dessert! Gammon! More gammon and then more desert! Then, those mince pies that actually aren’t mince they’re fruit. And like, sweet. Those… things. Whoever came up with those is a genius. Except for the name… they didn’t do too well there. And above all of that, just being able to spend some good quality time with loved ones and family. Not all of my family is around, it would mean the world to me to be able to see everyone, but that for me, is the best part about the festive season. Spending time. We don’t have a lot of it, and I think we take it for granted. And lastly… gammon! And oh, Those cherries that come with the gammon!

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when we mention:

Guys? Ulterior motives.

Girls? Just wanna have fun.

Good times? Being around family and friends.

Holiday? Phuket.

Attitude? On the catwalk… yeahhh on the catwalk (if you didn’t know, that’s a Right Said Fred song).

Confident? [Laughs] A feminine hygiene advert? I don’t know.

Hometown: Brits North-West

Likes: Dachshunds, pizza, shopping, speed, anything that gives me an adrenaline rush, photos, sunny days, being outdoors, laughing out loud, spending time with the people who matter to me, flying , drinking wine, traveling, being content, succeeding, lazy Sundays and afternoon naps (probably my most fav)

Special talents: Hmm I don’t think I have any special talents but i can bake the best banana bread ever, oh and I can speak five languages

Our South African Babes feature with Clarice Berteyn

Welcome to the pages of LW Babe Clarice. What does featuring as this week’s LW Babe mean to you?
It really does mean a lot to me being featured as this weeks LW Babe of the Week, I feel so privileged and proud to be a part of this.

How would you best explain yourself as a person?
I would explain myself as being a very bubbly, outgoing, fun, go getter, independent and a total social butterfly – although I am very stubborn at times and refuse to listen to other peoples advice, but hey that’s how you learn. I am very easy going and get along with almost everyone and I always try to see the best in every situation #goodvibes.

You are a pilot busy with your Commercial Pilot License. Tell us how you got into it and what the process of becoming a pilot is like?
From a very young age I’ve always been fascinated by airplanes and looking up at the sky. When I was sixteen I started flying. I actually had my private pilots license before my drivers license.
The process takes money, money and more money. It has been quite a process of long hours, late nights of studying and frequently having to say no to going out but it has definitely been worth all of it. Consistency is the key to everything and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else with my life!

Our SA Babes feature with Clarice Berteyn

What do you enjoy the most about flying ?
I enjoy the serenity that flying gives me and the absolute freedom. Nothing would ever be able to compare to the feeling that I get when I am a few thousand feet up in the air.

Where would you ultimately like to see your flying career take you?
Ultimately I would love to fly Corporate and jet set off to unfamiliar destinations, I wouldn’t mind airlines, but hopefully life takes me into the Corporate flying direction.

Have you ever experienced anything crazy while up in the air?
Yes, I have had my door open in mid air and all my planning blown out of the window. I have had a radio failure as well as a brake failure, and once on a night flight I couldn’t spot the runway to land, oops my bad [laugh].

Our South African Girls feature with Clarice Berteyn

Sex appeal. How would you best explain it?
I would explain sex appeal as having a sexual presence which allures and attracts people.

What makes you feel sexy?
I feel sexy when I’ve been working out often, eating well, I have tanned skin and wearing a skin tight dress with heals, with my make up and hair on point

What’s the first thing you take note of when meeting a guy?
Eyes, shoes and most definitely if he is an Apple or Samsung type of guy!

Our SA Girls feature with Clarice Berteyn

First dates. What should they consist of, and what shouldn’t they consist of?
To me I’ve always seen a first date like a job interview, there are sooo many do’s and don’ts in my books. Make your own way to the date because awkward car chatter is just the worse and then your escape plan might fail as well. A first date should be fun (nothing to intense or serious) to just take the pressure and awkwardness out of things. Do order your big girl meal and not just a salad. Dress to impress and keep the conversation light and do take me to get ice-cream!
Don’t be late, don’t talk about yourself endlessly or your problems (too heavy for a first date), don’t be attached to your phone or checking it frequently. If we are having dinner don’t be rude to the waiters, please guys don’t eye up other women while we are on a date. Don’t go home with someone after the first date.

With the festive season upon us, have you got anything exciting planned for the holidays?
Unfortunately not. I decided to that I’ll be getting my nerd on this December holiday and put my social life aside for a little while so I that I can finish my Commercial Pilot License. So I will mostly be flying and studying over the holidays, yet again if I’m flying I’m more than content with where I am.

What day of the week is your favorite and why?
Monday is actually my favorite day of the week even though a lot of people dislike it. It’s a new week with new beginnings and opportunities and you get to look forward to everything that the week has in store for you, you have to be the type of person that can make the most out of a Monday.

Meet this week's LW Babe, Clarice Berteyn

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when we mention:

Planes? Passion.

Helicopters? Complicated.

Mile high club? #BucketList.

My name is of Hebrew and Arabic/ Indian/ Asian decent meaning, Always Smile.

What drives you?
Negativity, failure, the will to be better, competition, corruption and Injustice drives me, and most important, my own fear of not reaching success in every aspect drives me toward reaching my goals and dreams. I, myself is what drives me. I am my own motivation and my own competition. Then, of course, if you have the right man in your life, he will contribute greatly to your drive toward great things.

If you could be any famous celebrity for just 1 day, who would you be and why?
Any good, attractive, talented actress really. To see if acting and that lifestyle really is what I thought it would be and to decide if I would actually enjoy it (having wanted to become one in high school).

How would you best sum up your shoot with us for this feature?
The shoot was really fun, the location was absolutely stunning, apart from the rain everything went quite smoothly.

Which scene is your favorite?
The scenes shot outside by the pool in the rain were my favorite. The area at The Fat Mermaid is beautifully decorated and the rain presented us with interesting challenges which I feel enhanced the photos.

Tell us a bit about the personality of Nicola Chemaly?
I am a very creative person, I like a lot of alone time but I can be a social butterfly on the odd occasion. I am very proactive, a potential future workaholic. I love exercise and being healthy, I spend a lot of time trying to find new interesting places to go to and majority of my time drawing and cooking.

If you had to compare yourself to any movie star/ character, who would it be and why?
I would compare my self to Wonder Women, I always get told I look just like her. Or Kat Von D, I get that one a lot as well…my guess is that it’s because of the tattoos [laughs].

What are you looking forward to most this festive season?
I am looking forward to having a lot of time to implement all my ideas and do all the things I don’t ever really have time for. I love spending tons of time with loved ones so I’m also really excited about that, and going to the beach of course!

What do you like to do for fun?
I am a very arty person. I love working with all kinds of mediums and just creating anything that comes to mind whether it is writing, painting or digitally designing, art is something I am very passionate about. I am also quite active, I spend a lot of my week in the gym.

Our South African Girls feature with Nicola Chemaly

You are obviously a tattoo collector. Which was your first and what drove you to start collecting?
My first tattoo was a royal mistake (I think most people’s are), I got it when I was 17 and I just wanted to feel what it felt like and be able to say I have one. It’s truly awful, it’s literally a little squiggle [laughs].
When I was still in primary school I got my hands on a Good Charlotte CD. The cover had this picture with all the band members and they were quiet heavily tattooed and I thought it was really awesome. I wanted to look like them! As tattoos became more and more accepted into society people like Hannah Snowdon or Grace Neutral played a big role in my ideas of getting them. After school I started a tattoo apprenticeship and worked with some lovely artists and people and I just carried on from there.

How would you best explain the pain of getting tattooed?
The pain of a tattoo is always sore. Most people get one tattoo and will say “it didn’t hurt I even fell asleep!”, truthfully it’s really sore, but I always tell myself that the time flies so fast it will be done before I know it and I will have new beautiful addition to my collection. It just feels like someone it continuously dragging a sharp object over your skin not hard enough to penetrate it but enough to hurt you and irritate the skin.

Our SA Girls feature with Nicola Chemaly

What advice would you give to someone wanting to start collection tattoos?
I have tons on this question, but to sum it up my advice to you would be that you shouldn’t try get ink done for super cheap prices. When it comes to tattoos you get what you pay for. If you’re gonna try exploit creatives by paying cheap prices for good work you are more than likely gonna have an ugly tattoo by a person who doesn’t have much talent or experience. I am a die hard fan for the guys at Humdinger Tattoo Emporium, they have never disappointed me with the quality of their work. Also I always recommend going through the portfolios and social media pages of the artist to find out more about their work and preferred style. It’s always good to have someone who loves the style you are going for.

If you could have chosen to grow up in any era, which would?
I’d chose the 80’s, purely for it’s legends.

What are the top 5 things on your bucket list?
I want to climb mount Kilimanjaro, I want to visit the Easter Islands where the giant statues were found, I’d like to partake in the ironman (eventually), I’d love to eventually volunteer for the WWF doing something for endangered species and visit Machu Picchuc in Peru.

What is the scariest thing you have ever done?
I don’t really put myself in scary situations, I am definitely not a dare devil and I am scared of heights [laughs].

LW Babe Kirsten Wylie

Hello 2018, and hello to our first LW Babe of the Week feature for the year! Meet Kirsten Wylie in her extremely sexy beach shoot – gotta love summer!

Kirsten Wylie features as our LW Babe of the Week

Full name: Kirsten Wylie

Age: 19

Hometown: Capetown

Likes: Being active, love the outdoors, ocean baby, food lover

Dislikes: Being cramped up in one place constantly, don’t dislike anything really

Special talents  Singer, athlete, modeling

Our South African Babes feature with Kirsten Wylie

Who is Kirsten Wylie?
Kirsten Wylie, is a devoted, enthusiastic, kind hearted, caring, motivated, bubbly, thoughtful, hard working (when out to the test) individual that loves life itself. Loves adventures and is constantly looking for the next best thing for herself and working on nothing but herself.

What can you usually be found doing on the weekends?
The beach would be your best bet, to find me taking a fresh dip in the ocean, taking photos, tanning, hiking if the weather is good. Mainly looking for an adventure is where you’ll find me, that’s if you find me.

Based in Plettenberg Bay what are some of your favourite spots on the Garden Route?
Ive recently moved to Cape Town but I know Plett like the back of my hand. Natures Valley is an all time favorite of mine because of its greenery, absolutely stunning hiking trails and the beautiful beaches. Same goes for Plett really and most of the areas – Keurbooms offers an insane day on the river with a jumping rock and so much more. The overall thing is mainly the pure beauty of the whole Garden Route area and its active things to do. I’m also a huge fan of a day on the beach, tanning, strolls, listening to music, eating good food and chilling with friends, and Robberg Beach would be the best place for that and also one of my favorite places.

Our SA Babes feature with Kirsten Wylie

Which is your favorite city/ town in South Africa?
I would have to say Plett, it is my hometown and I’ve grown up there. It’s just such a stunning place to live, everything about it is phenomenal and you can have the best times there if you do it with the right people and see the all the beautiful places it has to offer.

Faced with the option of doing something you’re scared of or something you’re comfortable with, which do you chose?
I guess that depends really, if you’re referring to sacred as in doing something like bungee jumping or something that upsets you in a sense. If it gives you an adrenaline rush and you won’t die [laughs], I’m in and getting out of your comfort zone is scary but it has to be done. I’m one to constantly challenge myself in that sense.

In your opinion, what are some of your best features and qualities?
I do have a good body because I work really hard for what I want and what I’m able to achieve. I’m quite a softy, which I feel is a great quality to have considering what our generation is like. I laugh at everything, many people say it’s because I’m blonde but sometimes the things people say are pretty foolish and I can’t help but be happy and laugh at things. I’m a genuine person I would say. Personally, my self esteem has been low and to a certain extent I find it difficult to talk about myself as such, I’d prefer to say good things about other people than myself.

Our South African Girls feature with Kirsten Wylie

What do you think men find so intriguing about women?
This question I found quite interesting, Men, I can’t say exactly, still can’t figure out the species if you know what I mean but I purely think men are all different. I’m not going to sugar coat it, men like woman more for their appearance and learn to love us later [laughs].

And women about men?
It’s also hard to say, woman go more for the personality than I’d say the ripped abs and good physique, that’s why I believe woman wear make up and men smooth talk.

What should and shouldn’t happen on first dates?
The generation now days is quite different compared to how it used to be. I don’t even think people really go on “dates” anymore. But I would say, whatever happens, happens. I would like to get flowers and be spoilt rotten, have my door opened and seat pushed in, a quiet candle lit dinner, something romantic, and spilt the bill. But, unfortunately times have changed.

Our SA Girls feature with Kirsten Wylie

What are you looking forward to most in 2018?
New beginnings and new Adventures. I just want everything to go up from here and for my life to start taking its course.

If you could be any one person for a day, who would it be and what would you get up to?
A billionaire and I’d give all the money towards poverty and animal shelters, and deposit a fair portion into my own bank account [laughs].

What can’t you leave home without?
My phone.
